The crisis at our southern border has gotten exponentially worse since President Biden took office. Criminals are benefitting from this Administration's open-border policies which are allowing drugs to flood into our communities, leaving our family and neighbors unsafe.
Fentanyl overdoses continue to be the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18-45. Just yesterday, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers intercepted 825 pounds of fentanyl and meth and on Wednesday they seized over 120,000 fentanyl pills.
I am working in Congress to secure our border to stop criminals and drugs from coming into our country. I introduced the Upholding the Law and our Border Act which will require the Inspector General of the Department of Homeland Security to investigate the vetting and processing of migrants apprehended at our border and ensure all laws are being upheld.
It is past time this Administration reverse these ill-conceived policies and secure our border. I will continue to work in Congress to reverse these policies and ensure our border is secure.
