This week I’m hosting a conference for the staff and volunteers who have been tirelessly working to help Afghan refugees resettle in the U.S.
A little over a year ago, the Taliban takeover displaced over 120,000 Afghans from their home, with thousands landing here in San Diego. This humanitarian crisis called us all to action.
The work doesn’t end once refugees make it here – we need to ensure a clear path to legal permanent residence so that Afghan families can rebuild their lives.
I co-sponsored legislation to provide Afghan refugees with this necessary support, and now I need you to stand with me in calling for action. Sign on and call on Congress to act! →
We simply would not be where we are today without the strength and resilience of our Afghan partners during the 20-year conflict.
In this critical moment, the U.S. must honor our promises and commitments.
It’s devastating enough to be evacuated from the only home you’ve ever known, but to settle in an unfamiliar place with no support is even worse. Without permanent residence, Afghan families struggle to secure housing, work, and education.
That’s why I’m calling on my colleagues in the House to streamline the immigration process for Afghan refugees and ensure they have the stability they need to rebuild their lives.
Add your name right away to join me.
Thanks for taking action in this pivotal moment.
