John,

Under current Virginia law, transgender people still don’t have explicit protections against discrimination when trying to find new employment, housing, and even in public spaces. This means that they face being fired, evicted, or denied service in restaurants and stores, simply because of who they are. This is completely unacceptable, especially as we embark on a new decade in our country’s history.

This archaic policy is also in place in 29 other states in the U.S. We stand with our allies today to announce our intent to push for statewide LGBTQ nondiscrimination protections. We call on state lawmakers to pass bipartisan, common-sense laws to protect transgender Virginians from discrimination in their daily lives.

Follow along on Facebook and Twitter at 2:30 PM EST tomorrow, December 19 to hear me and and our coalition partners speak about how we’ll pass this landmark legislation and share your support for our community.

In Solidarity,
