FOUR LGBTQ Stories You Should Know About
1. VICTORY IN MASSACHUSETTS!
All six of our endorsed candidates won their primaries in Massachusetts on Tuesday!
Game Changer candidate Maura Healey handily won her primary against her opponent with more than 85% of the total vote. Healey will face against Geoff Dhiel, a Trump-backed former state representative, in her bid to become one of the country’s first out lesbian governors.
On the Cape, endorsed candidate Rep. Sarah Peake defeated her challenger in a landslide. She is unopposed in the general election and will maintain important representation for the LGBTQ community in Massachusetts state House leadership.
2. NEXT WEEK: NEW HAMPSHIRE, RHODE ISLAND, DELAWARE
Next Tuesday marks an important milestone: it’s our last primary day of the 2022 campaign cycle. Learn more about all the candidates on the ballot next week here!
In New Hampshire, U.S. Congressman Chris Pappas will finally have an opponent in his reelection race for the first Congressional district – and no matter who wins, they’ll be anti-LGBTQ and anti-choice. Matt Mowers, who previously faced Rep. Pappas, previously served as a Trump State Department Advisor who issued anti-LGBTQ dog whistles in the 2020 race.
Former Press Secretary for anti-LGBTQ U.S. Representative Elise Stefanik, Karoline Leavitt is running neck and neck with Mowers. Her latest attack ad depicts Mowers as a “Swamp Doormat” – we’re not sure what that means either – despite basically having the same platform as him and her other opponent, Gail Huff Brown (wife of Scott Brown).
Meanwhile, Rep. Pappas has launched a new ad highlighting his record of public service and hard work in Congress. Watch it here!
3. COVER STORY: JIM OBERGEFELL’S NEXT CHAPTER

4. REPRESENTATION IN SILICON VALLEY
In June, Spotlight candidate Omar Torres took first place in his primary race for the San Jose (CA) City Council. Now, he’s earned a big endorsement from Mercury News. Read the full endorsement here!
