Members of Congress often spend too much time talking and not nearly enough time listening. My most important job in Washington, D.C. will always be representing your voice and the voices of my constituents in Sacramento County.

I want to hear directly from you about your priorities for me for the remainder of the year as well as provide you with some updates on our recent work in the district.

It was an honor to welcome U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra to Sacramento County for a roundtable discussion at Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California on protecting access to reproductive care.

Secretary Becerra also joined me at UC Davis Health for a conversation on the recently signed Inflation Reduction Act. 

As a doctor, I know politicians have no business in the exam room. I will always fight for a women's right to make her own personal health care decisions.

The Inflation Reduction Act will lower health care costs for families in Sacramento County by empowering Medicare to finally negotiate drug prices, saving Americans $100 billion over the next decade. This law also caps insulin prices for Medicare beneficiaries at $35 a month.

 Service Academy Nominations 

Every year, I'm privileged to nominate bright and hardworking students to attend our nation's military service academies.

Our service academies are some of the top universities in the country and help build strong leaders in our military and beyond. It's an honor to be able to nominate talented young people from our area so they can begin building a brighter future for themselves and our country. Our service academies include West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, and the Coast Guard Academy.

Labor Day with AFL-CIO

It was a pleasure to spend Labor Day with partners from AFL-CIO at Sacramento Loaves & Fishes to help serve hot meals to those in need.

I am a proud supporter of workers rights for Sacramento workers and am committed to creating good paying jobs across our region. That's why I voted  for the America COMPETES Act, bipartisan legislation that strengthens manufacturing here at home while helping grow our economy, cut costs for Americans, and fight inflation.

This law also levels the playing field to allow more American workers and businesses to compete and succeed in the global economy.
