Dear John,
This week, it was back to school for thousands of teachers and students across Minnesota! I had the opportunity to join Prior Lake Schools Superintendent, Michael Thomas, for a school bus ride to Five Hawks Elementary, where I met with students and teachers and welcomed them back to school. It was great to thank teachers for all they do to support our students. I was also able to catch up with some of my youngest constituents – who had plenty to say about the new school year and what they brought with them in their lunch box.
It’s so important that we support public education. That’s why I have:
- Led efforts to increase funding for special education
- Secured funding for rural broadband so that students in rural areas aren’t left behind
- Continued to work closely with career and technical education leaders and institutions to expand access to career opportunities
I’m proud to continue this work to support students and teachers, both here in Minnesota and across the country.
Here are some of the other highlights from this week:
Connecting with leadership in MN02 communities
Thanks to the Shakopee City Council for inviting me to join their meeting this week. It was great to catch up on my work in Congress and your work on behalf of the community!
Seeing Innovation in Minnesota
I joined State Senator Jim Carlson to meet with folks from Product Development Associates in Burnsville. It was great to touch base with a growing local business to see first-hand how their product development supports the Navy and other industries.
Listening to my constituents Thanks to everyone who joined my virtual town hall yesterday and an extra thank you to Michael Berndt, President of DCTC and Inver Hills Community College, for serving as our moderator and joining me in conversation about career skills and technical education.
Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:
Next week, I will have the honor of representing Team Congress in the Congressional Women’s Softball Game. Each year, a bipartisan group of women Members of Congress play against the women of the DC press corps to raise money and awareness for the Young Survivors Coalition – an organization supporting young adults who are diagnosed with breast cancer. And today, I’m giving you all a sneak peek at my walk-up song!
Dirt on My Boots by Jon Pardi!
Yep, the secret is out. I love country music!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to the new school year! Can’t wait to catch up again next week.
Until next time,
Angie Craig
Member of Congress
