I’ll get to the point: I’m hoping that I can count on you to support our Senate campaign with a donation in the next few hours.

Let me explain why.

Each month we look at our campaign costs (that’s everything from campaign stickers to getting ads on TV) and calculate how much we need to raise to fund a winning program. Those are the goals we’re talking about when we’ve asked you to donate in the past.

With New Hampshire’s primary taking place next week, we need to be especially nimble with our budget. We’ll need to respond to more attack ads and get ahead of Republican maneuvers designed to deceive voters. So, monthly fundraising goals won’t cut it anymore. We now need to analyze the numbers daily.

Our fundraising total for today is, so far, falling short of expectations. Not drastically, but enough that I need to ask you to please kick in $3 to help us close the gap.

Even being marginally short could spell trouble for our campaign. The Cook Political Report is calling Senate control a “toss-up” and we narrowly defeated the Republican incumbent in 2016. The race came down to just 1,017 votes!

I hope you understand that I’m not trying to be alarmist. We have a path and a plan for victory - we just need your help to fund it.

I’ll ask one more time for good measure: Will you please make a donation – $3 or whatever you can – before midnight tonight so that we can get the campaign back on track?

If we lose, it could very well mean losing the Senate majority so thank you for doing your part.

With every good wish,

Maggie Hassan
