WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Ronny Jackson (TX-13) introduced the Securing American Acquisitions, Readiness, and Military Stockpiles (ARMS) Act, which strengthens the Department of Defense’s (DoD) ability to replenish our military’s defense stocks following a transfer of lethal aid to an American ally or partner while also providing for strong Congressional oversight when the authority is used.
Jackson said: “America’s national security should always be the number one priority. We must ensure that support for our partners and allies abroad does not jeopardize our own military capabilities or readiness. My new legislation will ensure that doesn’t happen by giving the Department of Defense the authority it needs to keep our defense stocks at necessary levels if lethal aid is transferred to an American ally or partner who has been attacked by an adversary like Russia, China, or Iran. Supporting our partners and allies is important, but it cannot be done at the expense of our own preparedness.”
Jackson is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, which would receive notification from the DoD should the authority provided under Jackson’s legislation be used. Text for the Securing American ARMS Act can be found here.
