#LowcountryFirst Pass In Review |September 9, 2022 Taking Care of Business: Flood Resiliency and More Good afternoon and happy Friday! We’ve had a busy week traveling across the district and meeting with so many of you. Thanks for joining us! On Monday, many of us took time off to be with family and friends. We hope you all enjoyed the holiday and took some well-deserved time off. On Wednesday, we traveled to Edisto Island to host Cocktails with Your Congresswoman and meet so many of you all. We had great weather and enjoyed the chance to learn more about the issues facing the community. We are always here to listen to your concerns and do everything in our power to help. This was our 10th event this Summer, and we’ve now visited every county in the district. We plan to have more of these events in the near future and look forward to connecting with you all. At 5:00 pm today we are hosting Cocktails With Your Congresswoman at LG’s on the Creek in Hanahan. Please come say hello and meet our team. Don’t forget to RSVP here. If you’ve spent any time in the Lowcountry this past August, you know when it rains it floods. Our coastal district is the most beautiful place on earth, but we must learn to live with the reality of our rising tides. Our office is working hard to address this issue. On Thursday, we hosted the inaugural Coastal Resiliency Summit to discuss the impact flooding has on our district. Charleston floods more than 40 days a year, and we’ve already seen 34 days of minor flooding this year (including today). Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure flooding and resiliency issues are addressed in our district through: - Introducing the VA Flood Preparedness Act, - Co-chairing the Congressional Natural Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Caucus, - Submitting 14 projects to the Water Resources Development Act, among the highest submissions of any office, of which 9 were included in the final bill. Read about our WRDA proposals included in the final bill here. Next week we will be back in Washington working hard to represent you all. It will be a busy few weeks of voting, and our team is ready to go. As always, we will keep you up to date in our newsletter and on social media. Want to get even closer to the action? Our office is still in search of interns for the Fall! If you are interested in joining our team in Charleston, Beaufort or Washington please fill out an application here. These are incredible opportunities to gain experience, learn about the legislative process, and learn more about public service! Are you living in the Lowcountry with an adorably cute dog? Every weekend, we highlight one District Dog on our social media platforms. Submit your dog here. As always, if you need us, call us. Whether you need help with a passport, issues with receiving your tax refund or the Veterans Administration, please reach out to our office if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to be heard on any issue at any time. It’s an immense honor to serve each and every one of you. Sincerely, Congresswoman Nancy Mace Visit My Website DISTRICT DOG OF THE WEEK District Dog 🐶 This week's District Dog is Sampson!
