John,
It’s hard to believe the summer is over. And what a summer it was. My team and I have been busy meeting with folks here in PA-06, getting the chance to talk to constituents, and hearing your concerns, which all help as I fight for you in Washington. You’ll recall that the other day, we sent around an “email town hall” asking for you to submit questions. Well, we got a bunch, and I’m excited to answer some here.

1. Do you support a woman’s right to choose (abortion)?
YES! I am standing up to the GOP politicians who want to ban abortion by advancing the Women’s Health Protection Act to make Roe the law of the land, standing against efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, and working to improve maternal health care access through the Maternal Health Quality Improvement Act.

2. I would love a bullet point summary of the Inflation Reduction Act and how to explain it to my neighbors.
Great question. The Inflation Reduction Act does several terrific things that will help working families and lower costs in a bunch of ways. Here are just a few:
|
- Lowers the cost of prescription drugs by enabling Medicare to negotiate prices with drug companies, capping annual out-of-pocket costs at $2,000, and capping the price of insulin at $35 per month for Medicare recipients.
- Lowers health care costs by reducing premiums.
- Lowers utility costs for families by providing rebates and tax credits to make homes and vehicles more energy efficient.
- Makes overdue investments in the IRS to modernize its outdated system, which will make it much easier for average citizens to file their taxes and reclaim their refunds.
- Doesn’t raise taxes on anyone making less than $400,000 a year while ensuring that America’s largest and most profitable corporations, those making over $1 billion annually, pay something on that income by implementing a 15% minimum corporate tax.
- Leads us towards durable energy independence by investing in clean energy production here at home, putting the US on track to reduce 40% of carbon emissions by 2030.
- Accomplishes these goals while reducing the deficit by hundreds of billions of dollars.

3. I am very concerned about attacks on our democratic institutions and our voting rights. If election-deniers are elected, they intend to nullify fair and just elections. If that happens, our democracy is finished. What is being done to protect voting rights all the way through the certification of elections?
|
Election denialism is dangerous. First and foremost, we need leaders to speak the truth and accept the results of fair and just elections. That means we need to continue to elect pro-democracy officials up and down the ballot. Furthermore, we have legislative work to do – from fixing the Electoral Count Act to ending gerrymandering and enacting campaign finance reform, I am leading efforts in Congress to ensure that our government is responsive to you.
|
4. What are Democrats doing to make sure we hold the House and get a majority in the Senate this midterm election?
|
This is a great question. We need to do two things: 1.) make sure voters know we are fighting for them, and 2.) ensure that the stakes of the radical MAGA agenda are made clear to voters. To the first point, we need to make sure that our community knows that we are delivering for them. We are working to address inflation by fixing supply chains and lowering costs for families, improving our schools, and keeping our communities safe. On the other hand, MAGA Republicans are offering a dangerous agenda that would strip away our rights and freedoms and erode our democracy. The vast majority of our community – Republicans, Democrats, and Independents – is on our side on both of these issues
|
The excitement that I feel when I’m advocating for you gets a little stronger knowing the issues you care deeply about. But we have a big fight ahead: The GOP is going all out to flip this seat red and the NRCC just added it to their target list. But I know we can win if we continue to work together and spread our message of positivity and progress. So please, can you donate $5 so we can power our movement to victory?
|
Thank you, John. There is work to be done, and I'm so glad you're with me.
