Hi, John, Governor Laura Kelly here.

When it comes to managing my inbox, I’m probably a lot like you. Every day I get messages from campaigns and organizations asking for my support. It can be hard to prioritize which calls to action are most important – so I wanted to explain why your $3 is essential for governors’ races like mine.

In less than two months, voters will head to the polls in 36 states to choose their next governor – including here in Kansas. Politico, Inside Elections, Sabato’s Crystal Ball, AND the Cook Political Report have all labeled my race as a “toss-up.” And Politico even called me the “most vulnerable incumbent on the ballot this year.”

They’re saying we don’t stand a chance. But this isn’t the first time I’ve been underestimated, and I know we can prove them wrong again.

It’s critical that Democrats come out on top, because across the country, extremists are running to flip governors' offices in state after state. Derek Schmidt, my extreme opponent, wants to take us back to the days when extreme political ideologies won over basic common sense. He wants to take us back to the days of budget deficits, when some schools were so poorly funded that they were forced to go to 4-day school weeks. It was devastating for Kansas – and I’ve worked hard every single day to turn our state around and make progress for everyday people.
