The bottom line? Washington is out of touch with real people. Elected officials are so beholden to lobbyists, dark money, and wealthy corporations that they have forgotten how to actually serve their constituents.

Subject: We have allowed a broken system to place corporate interests over real people for too long
John -
The Washington Post released an article this past Monday revealing that a recent series of opinion columns published by three state lawmakers were not written by these lawmakers at all. They were written in large part by their lobbyist buddies. These lobbyists are attempting to skew public opinion on healthcare in a way that will benefit them financially.
We’re not taking a dime from corporate lobbyists, so we need a lot of help from you, John. Can you chip in $15 or whatever you can afford today to help us get corruption out of politics?
Big pharma has millions of dollars to funnel to politicians. They think they can buy our leaders and put an end to any legislation that threatens their bottom line - even if it will help millions of Americans.
This is the problem with Washington - elected officials allow small groups of well-paid, well-connected lobbyists to control their decision making in exchange for financial favors. Their decisions benefit a few and hurt most.
We wonder why it’s so hard to fundamentally change a healthcare system that places corporate profits over the health of real people. It seems obvious - we have allowed a broken political system to be hijacked by endless amounts of corporate money and influence.

Quite frankly, I’m sick and tired of backroom political deals that exclude hard working Americans. It’s time we elect representatives who work for all of us, not just the wealthy and well-connected.
Thank you for taking on this corrupt system with us,
Tom Winter
