John,
I wanted to be sure that you saw Michael’s email about our new radio ad campaign.
Fun fact: Michael didn’t want to do it, because he didn’t think we could afford it. I told him that we’d be able to raise enough before the end of September to make it work.
We’re booking the radio spots right now―so we need to dig deep and make this work. Can you chip in $5 today to save Social Security from Republicans this November?
Thanks,
Alex Lawson

― MICHAEL’S EMAIL ―
John,
The midterms are just 60 days away. Here’s what we know:
-
The voting population in midterm elections skews older than when the President is on the ballot
-
Democrats erased their gap among older Americans in the 2020 elections, fighting Republicans to a draw.
-
Republican candidates have endorsed plans to privatize or destroy Social Security and Medicare
-
Midterm voters need to know that Democrats have a plan to expand Social Security, while Republicans have plans to destroy it.
Social Security Works is launching a series of radio ads in key congressional districts―can you chip in $7 to make sure every midterm voter knows that we need to save Social Security from Republicans?
We’re still finalizing the list of markets where we’ll air our ads, but we’re looking at districts where we can make a big difference. The more money we’re able to raise, the more voters we’ll be able to reach.
The ads will feature Social Security Works Senior Advisor Jon “Bowzer” Bauman, of Sha Na Na fame. Bowzer is a trusted voice among seniors―exactly who we need to reach before Election Day.
I’ll be frank: Radio ads aren’t cheap. But they’ll reach millions of voters that we can’t get to any other way. This investment is bigger than our budget can afford right now―and I’m counting on emails like this one to make up the gap.
Can you help us close the gap and fully fund our midterm radio ad campaign, and save Social Security and Medicare from Republicans?
Thank you,
Michael Phelan Social Security Works
