The property insurance market in Florida is collapsing.
Already, seven major providers have left the state or are not offering new policies. And across our state, people are facing skyrocketing renewal rates or unexpectedly losing their coverage – all in the middle of hurricane season.
Due to rising sea levels and the threat of stronger storms, Floridians face higher and higher risks of flooding which puts their property directly in harm's way.
John, we can’t wait any longer to act. Lawmakers have continued to kick the can on this issue, and it’s up to us to hold them accountable.
That’s why I’m committed to fighting for real action on the property insurance crisis, to stabilizing the market and increasing transparency, and to prioritizing the safety and security of our community.
It’s the job of elected officials to advocate for and protect the people they represent. And for too long, our leaders have failed us.
I’ve been out in our community talking to voters, and I know how important it is for people to know their homes are protected against storm damage and rising climate threats.
