‘89% of Border Patrol Resources’ Pulled From Frontlines

• At a forum at the Texas Capitol this week, former U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan painted a picture of national ignorance to the ongoing border crisis, blaming poor messaging and general obliviousness in the average citizen. Sydnie Henry reports on his speech.
      
• Morgan explained that “border security is national security.” Therefore, the focus of the crisis cannot be illegal immigration, as that is only a subset of the issue. Instead, the focus has to be on border security.
     
• “We know that—you know that—as illegal immigration goes up, our ability to secure our border goes down. Why? Because 89 percent of Border Patrol resources are pulled off the frontline, off our national security mission, leaving large areas of border wide open, literally handing operational control over to the cartels.”
       
• “I’ve been doing this for 35 years. I’ve served for six administrations both Republican and Democrat. So, this is not a right or left thing for me. This is an American thing for me.” – Mark Morgan

Houston Astros Fundraise for Child Gender Mutilation

• A report in National Review details collusion between increasingly woke Major League Baseball and nonprofits that perform so-called “gender reassignment” procedures on minors. And it contains distressing news for fans of the Houston Astros. Adam Cahn has the details.
     
• The Astros have raised funds for the Montrose Center, which targets children as young as 5 years old with LGBTQ propaganda. The center also provides “gender-affirming healthcare” and helps minors “transition” between genders.

School Trustee Admits Board Is Not Investigating Sex Assault Cover-Up

• A trustee in scandal-plagued Prosper Independent School District is speaking out about the school board’s response to shocking accusations the district covered up allegations of a bus driver sexually abusing two little girls for an entire school year in order to protect the district’s image. Erin Anderson has the full story.
      
• Prosper ISD trustee Garrett Linker posted a statement Wednesday night on social media saying reports published late last month were the first he heard about the scandal. He also confirmed parents’ suspicions that the board is not conducting an “independent investigation” as the ISD claimed last week.
      
• Parents in the district—including some whose children rode the same bus and attended the same school as the alleged victims—said the publicity about the lawsuit was also the first they’d heard about their children possibly being exposed to a molester who was identified and arrested in early May.
      
• A special meeting of the Prosper ISD board has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 13 at 8:00 a.m.

Friday Reflection: Make Them Fear You

Fear is a powerful tool. Improperly applied, fear causes us to make irrational choices without thinking. Yet it can also, in the words of the Book of Proverbs, be the “beginning of wisdom.” The difference is what we fear. 

In Proverbs 9:10 we find, “fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom”. Scripture is replete with examples of the foolishness of man. Individuals, prophets, and even disciples often make the mistake of fearing men more than God.

A healthy fear is critical in all facets of life. And, frankly, it is very easy to fear the wrong things.

I have come to believe what underlies many of our problems in the American body politic is too little fear. That is, too little fear by the politicians of the voters and taxpayers. As evidenced just by their performance in recent years, most politicians in the Texas Legislature very clearly fear the retribution of lobbyists and bureaucrats more than the taxpayers and voters. 

Were this not so, for example, they would have rushed to end the corporate welfare programs opposed by both parties and large majorities of citizens that fund unreliable energy companies. Instead, we are treated to the spectacle of those politicians tripping over themselves to find new ways to get the taxpayers’ cash to their cronies.

The fault rests with us. 

What we should have been fearing is what has resulted. We should have feared the loss of liberty, the growing bureaucratic deep-state. We should have used that fear to drive actions protecting our republic. 

But it was easier for us to fear the loss of free time that comes with being engaged. It was easier to fear the inconvenience of true self-governance.

We allowed ourselves to fear the disapproval of the power-hungry, self-serving politicians. We feared not being loved by our elected officials. We even feared the disapproval of those who hate us. 

And so, we have found ourselves fearing a government that – in our laziness – has been allowed to become a prowling leviathan.

As citizens, we have failed to inspire sufficient fear in those elected servants. We’ve allowed them to think they are the masters of this republic. We have put ourselves at the bottom of the governing hierarchy.

Too many citizens fail to even participate in elections. And even fewer bother to take the steps necessary to hold politicians accountable for their actions and inactions. The downward spiral of cause and effect blur, with the result being lawmakers who don’t sufficiently fear the citizenry and citizens too fearful to engage effectively.

Wisdom is found in learning from our mistakes, being fearful of repeating them. Will we let fear stop us from fighting back?

It’s up to us, as citizens, to inspire in our elected servants greater fear than the lobbyists and bureaucrats. Rather than accept table scraps, the citizenry must unwaveringly demand that politicians seek our approval and our approval alone. 

As citizens, we must set aside fear, stand firm, and demand obedience from our government.
