Preamble Reading

Constitution Day Naturalization Ceremony

9:30 a.m.

As part of the Center's annual Naturalization Ceremony, 50 immigrants from across the globe will take the Oath of Allegiance to officially become citizens of the United States. Register here


Judges on Judging Event

11 a.m.

Judge Marjorie Rendell, Judge Cheryl Ann Krause, and Judge Stephanos Bibas of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, join us to discuss how judges approach cases. Register here


Kids Town Hall: The Constitution and the First Amendment 

12 p.m.

During this special program, visitors will have the opportunity to “meet” famous figures who used the First Amendment to ensure “We, the People” includes all the people. Special guests will include Benjamin Franklin, Dora Lewis, Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, and James Madison. Register Here  


Scholar Exchange: The Constitutional Convention

1 p.m.

Professors Hasan Kwame Jeffries, Akhil Reed Amar, and Colleen Sheehan join National Constitution Center President and CEO Jeffrey Rosen for a discussion on the issues and events in early America that led to the Constitutional Convention. Register here


Common Ground and Compromise: A Congressional Conversation

3:30 p.m.

Join the National Constitution Center for an engaging and informative session with former U.S. representatives to learn about what it's like to serve in the legislative branch. They will also discuss the importance of bipartisanship and working across the aisle. Register here

Virtual Walking Tour of Historic Philadelphia

Saturday, September 17 at 11 a.m.

  • Join members of the National Constitution Center's Education Team on a virtual walking tour of the historic sights and scenes of Old City Philadelphia. Located just steps from Independence Hall, where the Constitution was drafted and signed, the National Constitution Center sits within what has been called the nation's "most historic square mile."

Student and Family Town Hall with Karen Korematsu

Saturday, September 17 at 12 p.m.

  • Join us for a special town hall program featuring Karen Korematsu, founder and executive director of the Fred T. Korematsu Institute and the daughter of the late civil rights icon, Fred Korematsu. Korematsu will discuss the impact of her father’s landmark Supreme Court case in which he took a stand against the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II.

Register for the first Scholar Exchanges of the 2022-2023 season!


Constitutional Convention and Civil Dialogue

In this session, students will examine the issues and events that led to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in the summer of 1787, including the weakness of the Articles of Confederation, Shay’s Rebellion, and the growing need for a new national government. Students will also explore the Convention, and its major turning points and compromises—including the Connecticut Compromise, the Electoral College, the Three-Fifths Compromise, and the Slave Trade Clause. 

All classes are recorded, captioned, and posted on our website and YouTube channel.

Constitution 101

The National Constitution Center's free nonpartisan Constitution 101 curriculum is rigorous, robust, aligned to state standards nationwide. Each of the 15 modules contain interactive and adaptable lessons, activities, and resources. 

Preview the curriculum and explore modules ranging from principles of the American Revolution to separation of powers and federalism to the 14th Amendment. Explore.
