CCL December call: Lobby Day report, guest Carolyn Woo, this month's
actions

On our December national call, CCL Executive Director Mark Reynolds
highlighted some CCL news that happened since last month's national
meeting: We had a record 823 people attend November Lobby Day. That's
our biggest November lobby event ever! The attendees included 159
students, a lot of people identifying as right of center, and many
people from communities of color — we're making strides at having our
events represent the country as a whole.

We met with 486 offices during our day on the Hill. Year to date, we've
held 1,725 meetings with congressional offices, more than last year's
1,600 meetings. Also our volunteers published 59 op-eds last month, one
of the highest op-ed months all year. Great job, everyone!

We heard from guest speaker Dr. Carolyn Woo, the former President and
CEO of Catholic Relief Services, who spoke about the Vatican Transition
Energy Dialogue. You can watch her remarks

from minutes 3:30 to 23:00.

Mark encouraged everyone to get started on December's monthly actions:
engage with your local faith community, and write a year-end letter to
the editor. Get more info on these actions from CCL's December Action
Sheet.

Conservative Climate Lobby Day Feb. 3-4

As the Republican party begins to discuss climate change solutions,
conservative voters are some of the best advocates to speak to
Republican members of Congress about putting a price on pollution. On
Feb. 3-4, CCL will host our first Conservative Climate Lobby Day,
specifically for people who are politically right of center and want
Congress to work on climate solutions. The two-day event features a day
of training on lobbying and policy, followed by a day of meetings on
Capitol Hill, primarily with Republican offices, and an evening
reception. If you are conservative, or have a conservative friend or
family member who is concerned about climate change and supportive of
carbon fee and dividend, please consider attending or extending an
invitation to them to attend. Deadline to apply is Jan. 13.

APPLY NOW

[link removed]

Please note: This event is for conservatives ONLY. If you're not
conservative and want to lobby with us on Capitol Hill, mark your
calendars now for our June 7-9 conference and lobby day, which is open
to everyone. We'd love to have you! Registration for that event opens in
February.

We're at 76% of our funding goal

As you might know, our goal is to raise $500,000 by year end, and we're
already at $381,090! This year, your Facebook Fundraisers have been
instrumental in helping leverage additional support. So far, 158
volunteers have created personal Facebook Fundraisers for Citizens'
Climate Lobby and collectively brought in over $52,835! If you created a
Facebook Fundraiser, thank you!

Now, with only two weeks left, we still need to raise $118,910 more in
order to reach our goal by December 31. If you have not done so already,
please consider making a tax-deductible year-end gift today.

DONATE

[link removed]

Each year we rely on people just like you to invest in our climate
advocacy work, helping to grow and strengthen our volunteer base across
the United States. And we're intentional in only asking for support
biannually — once in March and once again during our year-end appeal —
because we know that you're already giving so much of your time, energy
and talents to this cause.

By making a tax-deductible year-end gift, you're supporting advocacy
training programs, volunteer outreach efforts, and new chapter
development that is vital to achieving bipartisan climate solutions in
Congress. Whether you are able to give $10, $100, $1,000 or even more,
every donation counts and will be most gratefully received!

Meet some of our amazing CCL volunteers

Since November, we've introduced some of our amazing volunteers through
a series of short documentary videos, posting a new video each week. So
far, we've featured Emily, a young Latina from California, Mike, who
lives in coal country, Sonna, a pastor in Arkansas, Morgan, a
conservative Christian in Texas, and Sarah, a science teacher in
Georgia.

This week, we introduce Reggie, a jewelry maker who grew up in the
Navajo Nation in New Mexico. He has a strong connection to nature and
wants to protect his own little corner of the earth for his family and
the nature around him. Watch and share his video on Facebook

Chapter organizing: Cookies sweeten meeting

During the holiday season, many chapters are bringing some festive cheer
to their work. Mollee Sullivan is in CCL's Richmond, Virginia, chapter,
where they hosted a cookie exchange as part of their December meeting.
"It's neat because we celebrate different holidays and have different
dietary requirements, but we all love cookies and end up with a
beautiful spread," Mollee says. This was the second year the chapter
hosted a cookie exchange.

Mollee also created some holiday cards that say "Peace, Love, and a
Price On Carbon." If you'd like to print some of these cards yourself,
you can download the file from CCL Community here
