First, there was that incredible win in Kansas, KANSAS! to protect abortion rights in the state. Then, there was the underdog win of Democrat Pat Ryan in a light red congressional district in Upstate New York.

Now Jack, do you still need more evidence that Democrats are getting ready to crush the Republicans' dreams of a big red wave this November?

If so, then take a look at the congressional special election in bright red Alaska (!) where Democrat Mary Peltola defeated Sarah Palin. Yes, that Trump-cheerleading, former Governor of the state, former Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin.

Midterm elections have historically been a purge of the party in control of the White House, but Democrats are building momentum to buck these trends. I don't need to tell you, Jack, that the upcoming midterm elections are imperative to the protection of our democracy. Democrats need to hold on to control of the House and hopefully, pick up seats in the Senate. Meanwhile, we need to do everything possible to elect more Democrats up and down the ballot in battleground states.

Unfortunately, after record breaking turnout in the 2020 elections sent Trump packing, Republicans responded by making it harder for people to cast their ballots. Last year alone, 19 states passed 34 laws making it harder for people–mostly people of color–to vote.

At Daily Kos we aren't taking anything for granted. Not only are we supporting organizations in key states like Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Texas, North Carolina and Florida to help educate and turnout voters, but we are building upon our successful Get Out the Vote program of past election cycles. In fact, so far we have recruited over 36,850 volunteers who are already doing real Get Out the Vote work–training to become poll workers, writing letters and postcards to key voters, signing up for phonebanking shifts–putting us well on our way toward reaching our goal of 100,000.

NOW is the time to take action to help Democrats win in November. This will be an uphill battle to restore our rights and protect our democracy.
