GreenLine For September 8, 2022
Monday, September 12 EcoAction Teach-in on Forever Chemicals
(PFOA/S)
Join the Green Party US EcoAction
Committee this Monday at 9pm ET for a webinar on the PFOA
/ S Forever Chemicals which have contaminated drinking water supplies
across the country.
Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is one of a group of related
chemicals known as perfluorinated alkylated substances (PFAS). This
group of chemicals is commonly used in non-stick and stain-resistant
consumer products, food packaging, fire-fighting foam, and industrial
processes.
On June 15, 2022, the EPA issued interim updated drinking
water health advisories for PFOA and PFOS. The updated advisory
levels, which are based on new science and consider lifetime exposure,
indicate that some negative health effects may occur with
concentrations of PFOA or PFOS in water that are near zero.

Green Party of California Celebrates "A New Labor Movement"
"Today, the struggle for labor and workers' rights is as relevant
as ever.
It may have taken a global pandemic and decades of a two-party
monopoly's corporate-serving policies but we are seeing a wave of
emerging labor mobilization.
Teachers,
nurses,
hotel
workers, fast-food
workers, and many other front-line, exploited workers are
building a labor movement that is advancing beyond the union executive
offices and mobilizing on our streets and communities, with three
times more workers organizing strikes in 2022 than 2021.
Workers in industries that were traditionally not
unionized are forming unions faster and more successfully than in the
past 20
years. Amazon, Starbucks, Apple, REI,
and Trader Joe’s are being unionized! The approval for
unions in the US is at 71%, the highest it's been since 1965."
