Dear John — I am honored and excited to formally invite you to NDWA's 15th Anniversary Virtual Celebration, which will take place Friday, September 16th from 5-9pm ET!
In 2007, we began organizing nannies on New York City playgrounds with the goal of building on the enduring legacy of the domestic worker movement while lifting the women who do the work that makes all other work possible in this country.
Fifteen years later, we are not only one of the largest membership-based alliances of women of color in the country, we have also taken our movement from the swing sets to the halls of Congress, winning groundbreaking local, state, and federal policy victories that are creating the caring future we know is possible.
With your support and partnership, we’ve achieved the unthinkable — we’ve shifted the national lens around care into a collective responsibility and one that’s necessary for our economic and societal progress.
Together, we built power from the margins when we were told it would be impossible, and we challenged who gets to hold it; expanded our movement to include artists, elected officials, engineers, and economists; organized with and for care workers, working moms, and family caregivers; and welcomed so many people of all walks of life into our movement.
As an organization, we choose our moments of celebration carefully, and this milestone is an important one to bring our community together.
There are a few ways to join in the celebration:
As we recognize our 15 year anniversary, we are aware of what it will take to meet this moment in history — one where the need for care can no longer be ignored, and a collective realization that we all want a country where domestic workers, and all those who depend on their care, are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
This is our time and together, we will continue to build power for the future. We couldn’t have gotten this far without your support and generosity.
I look forward to celebrating 15 years of NDWA with you!
Warmly,
Jenn Stowe
