As an NFIB Leadership Trust member, you are receiving this invitation to hear from and interact with our NFIB PAC endorsed candidates. JD & Tiffany will be giving an update on their races and taking your questions on how this election will affect small business. You will not want to miss this special Leadership Trust event!
JD Vance is the Republican and NFIB Federal PAC-endorsed candidate for US Senate in Ohio. A Middletown, Ohio, native, he was raised by his grandmother, and went on to join the Marines and serve in the Iraq War. JD graduated from Ohio State University, received his law degree from Yale Law School, and became a successful investor in Silicon Valley. He is also the author of the bestselling book, Hillbilly Elegy, which was adapted for the screen. JD returned to Ohio in 2017 and started a business in Cincinnati, and is married with two children. JD is facing opposition from Congressman Tim Ryan in his campaign to keep the seat being vacated by Senator Rob Portman. JD’s success this November is imperative for the Senate to flip to a pro-small business majority.
Veterans advocate and former triage nurse Tiffany Smiley is the Republican and NFIB Federal PAC-endorsed candidate for US Senate in Washington. A self-described “farm girl from rural Washington”, Tiffany resigned from her job to become a full-time caregiver to her husband and high school sweetheart, Scotty. He was severely wounded by a suicide bomber while serving in Iraq, causing him to fall into a coma and permanently lose his eyesight. While Scotty was still in the hospital, Tiffany challenged the federal government and refused to consent to her husband’s immediate discharge from the Army to ensure he received the care he earned and deserved. She and Scotty continue to fight for reforms that help America’s veterans, and they are the proud parents of three young boys. Tiffany’s race against 30-year incumbent Senator Patty Murray remains highly competitive. Recent polling puts Tiffany within three points of victory. Tiffany’s race is critically important to regaining a pro-small business Senate.
