POV Short Stay Close on Oscar Shortlist
Earlier this week the Academy announced a first batch of shortlists, including the shortlist for Documentary Short Subject. Out of 96 submissions, 10 were shortlisted, including Stay Close, which was featured in Season 2 of POV Shorts. Stay Close blends home videos and animation in an expressionistic montage to tell the underdog story of Keeth Smart, an African American fencer from Brooklyn who overcomes a gauntlet of hardships on his road to the Olympics.
The Columbia Journalism School announced the 16 winners of the 50th annual duPont-Columbia University Awards, which honor excellence in broadcast and digital journalism. POV Season 31 films The Apology and Dark Money were both recognized.
YouTube TV subscribers now have access to PBS's award-winning content, including POV. More than 100 PBS member stations are now streaming live on YouTube TV, with additional stations launching next year. This partnership expands PBS’s digital footprint and offers viewers additional ways to stream PBS content.
