Folks – it’s official: abortion rights are on the ballot in Michigan.
Last month, two Republicans blocked an initiative to enshrine reproductive freedom in Michigan’s Constitution from appearing on the ballot in November. But today, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that the measure, which was supported by over 700,000 Michiganders, will receive a vote in November after all.
Even better, a judge also recently ruled Michigan’s 1931 abortion law unconstitutional and unenforceable. But the fight is far from over.
This is great news, folks. If it passes, the ballot measure, organized by Reproductive Freedom for All, will grant every Michigander the right to safe, legal abortion and contraceptive care.
We need to pass this ballot measure and support Michigan Democrats up and down the ballot. Will you chip in $25 to help me fund get-out-the-vote efforts across MI-11?
But here’s the problem: the GOP’s dirty tricks are coming. They’re going to do everything they can to mislead voters about this initiative – because they know their own ideas are remarkably unpopular.
Today is absolutely a victory – but the big showdown is coming on November 8th.
I’ll always stand up for reproductive freedom, even in the face of the GOP’s attacks. Will you chip in to help me energize voters throughout MI-11 and ensure reproductive freedom wins BIG in November?
