Hi friends,

I’m writing to ask you to support my bill to protect workers exposed to dangerous heat conditions in the workplace.

It’s called the Asunción Valdivia Heat Illness and Fatality Prevention Act and I’ll tell you more about it and why it’s so important in just a minute, but if you’re already on board, it would mean a lot if you could add your name here to show your support:

Here is the deal:

As California and the rest of the country face punishing heat waves, rising temperatures are increasingly dangerous for workers. But right now, there is no federal standard to ensure the health and safety of workers exposed to dangerous heat conditions.

That’s wrong. Our farmworkers, postal workers, construction workers, and ALL who work in these conditions deserve protection.

That’s why my bill would direct the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to establish a standard to protect workers from hazardous heat, including:

🚰 access to water,
🧊 paid breaks in cool spaces,
🚑 emergency response, and
⏲️ limitations on the amount of time exposed to heat.

The climate crisis has accelerated the dangers of extreme heat, especially in California where we’re also suffering from record rough and dangerous wildfires. So we can’t afford to wait:

Please, add your name to mine to say you support a federal standard to protect workers from increasingly hot and dangerous conditions.

ADD YOUR NAME: [link removed]

Thank you,

Alex Padilla
