California Governor Signs Bill Aimed at Protecting Fast Food Workers
A bill that could raise wages and working standards for fast food workers in California was signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday, amidst vehement opposition from the fast food industry and celebration from labor unions.Â
AB 257, or the FAST Recovery Act, creates a “Fast Food Council” made up of 10 business, labor, and government representatives that will designate minimum industry-wide standards for fast food workers, including wages, working hours, and other health, safety, and security standards.
