Updated COVID-19 booster shots are now available across the U.S.

These boosters are tailored to combat the most prevalent omicron subvariants at this time, BA.4 and BA.5. In the U.S., 89% of infected patients are testing positive for BA.5, and 11% for BA.4.

The new booster can be found at Walgreens, CVS, or local pharmacies and clinics.

Netherlands’ Haarlem Is First Major City to Ban Meat Ads

Haarlem, a city in The Netherlands, is set to ban most meat advertisements from public spaces because of meat’s impact on the climate crisis. This ban, which will be enforced in 2024, is the first of its kind in a major city.

California Governor Signs Bill Aimed at Protecting Fast Food Workers

A bill that could raise wages and working standards for fast food workers in California was signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday, amidst vehement opposition from the fast food industry and celebration from labor unions. 

AB 257, or the FAST Recovery Act, creates a “Fast Food Council” made up of 10 business, labor, and government representatives that will designate minimum industry-wide standards for fast food workers, including wages, working hours, and other health, safety, and security standards.
