John,

This week, Democratic candidates for president began to lay out their plans to defeat Donald Trump and move our country forward. But notably absent from this week’s debates was a critical discussion about the future of our earned benefits.

Right now, we have an administration that is attacking Social Security from within―appointing cronies who seek to cut and undermine the most successful social insurance program in our country’s history.

If Democrats are going to defeat Trump in 2020, they need to draw a clear distinction by highlighting their own plans to protect and expand our earned benefits.

Donate today to demand answers on Social Security. We need each Democratic presidential candidate to commit to increase, and never cut, Social Security’s modest benefits.

We recently learned that the Social Security 2100 Act will come up for a vote in the House this year. This bill, which would increase benefits and keep Social Security strong through the 21st century, already has the support of nearly 90% of House Democrats. And right now we’re rallying support so it can pass the House with a big majority.

If House Democrats vote to protect and expand Social Security, while Democratic Presidential candidates make the issue a key part of their platforms, it will draw a clear contrast for the American people about who is really on our side.

At a time of disappearing pensions and unstable 401ks, we need to expand, never cut, Social Security’s earned benefits. And we can do that when the wealthy start paying into Social Security at the same rate as the rest of us.

Donate to Social Security Works today to demand that each Democratic presidential candidate go on record on Social Security.

When we rise up together, we can make progressive change that lifts up all U.S. families.

Thanks,

Alex Lawson
