Convicted MAGA insurrectionist Couy Griffin was removed from his role as county commissioner in New Mexico. Griffin is the first official in more than 100 years to be removed under the Constitution’s bar on insurrectionists holding office.

Damn right! And we shouldn’t stop with Griffin. Because in a world where even the Supreme Court has been compromised by its loyalty to Trump we can’t trust every judge to do the right thing.

The New Mexico judge’s ruling that removed the traitor Couy Griffin stands in stark contrast to a ruling just 24 hours earlier... In Florida, a Trump-appointed Florida judge awarded her leader with an unwarranted special master in the investigation of Trump’s unlawful possession of government secrets!

Awarding a special master is such blatant bullcrap, that even Trump’s former Attorney General William Barr had to admit the ruling was “deeply flawed.”

These back-to-back rulings serve as a reminder that our system is as dependent on having honest and decent judges as it is to have honest and decent elected representatives.

Governors, presidents, and congressional representatives are responsible for appointing and affirming judges.

It is of the highest importance that we make sure we’re putting the hard work in to elect Democrats up and down the ballot to protect the rule of law and our democracy.

The Republican party is struggling internally with anti-democratic extremists. Until rational Republicans kick the fascists out of their house, they absolutely cannot be trusted to appoint any more judges.

The way we protect our democracy is by using our democracy to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.
