NNU - Medicare for All!

We just recently wrapped up our Summer 2022 Webinar Series: Fight for the Future of Health Care, and we wanted to recap what you missed and give you the chance to get caught up. Left Behind: How Underserved Communities Carry the Heaviest Burden of our Broken Health Care System | May 2022. This session looks at how underserved communities are already disadvantaged and exploited by the current health care system, and the ways in which new trends like Home All Alone schemes will make this worse. Uber for Nurses? The Gigification of Health Care | June 2022. The health care industry is trying to shift more nurses and health care workers into a precarious “gig worker” model (taking a page out of Uber’s playbook) and misclassify nurses as independent contractors.
This session explores how the gigification of health care is a symptom of the fundamental difference between the corporate, for-profit model and the care-driven model of Medicare for All. Equity through Advocacy: Overcoming Technological Bias in Health Care | July 2022 | New technologies like AI, algorithms, and data analytics are widening racial health disparities and degrading the quality of care that bedside nurses provide. In this session we cover how, under our current system, new technologies like these are being used to squeeze more profit from each patient by removing them from hospitals and substituting virtual monitoring for hands-on care. The Corporate Abuse of Caregivers | August 2022 | Home All Alone delegates the labor and the risks of care onto patients and their families while hospitals charge the same amount – increasing burnout and moral injury among unpaid family caregivers as well as exacerbating gender inequities. We discuss how this model threatens patient care, jeopardizes RN working conditions, and contributes to the broader devaluation of care work.Nurses are fighting back against these dangerous new practices to ensure patients get the hands-on care they need, and you can be part of that effort. To bring awareness to 'Home All Alone' schemes, please watch and share our 2.5 minute video that illuminates just how dangerous these programs can be for patients: Share on TwitterShare on FacebookShare via emailTogether we will pass Medicare for All and build a health care system that’s driven by care, not profits. Thank you for being part of this effort. Nurses’ Campaign to Win Medicare for All
