VICTORY! Governor Gavin Newsom has signed the [ [link removed] ]FAST Recovery Act into
law. California is now the first state to give fast food workers a voice
in setting minimum health, safety, and employment standards. Labor
advocates say this legislation provides workers with new bargaining power
in an industry of over 500,000 employees statewide.

This victory was made possible by Service Employees International Union
(SEIU) and countless labor activists statewide, whose marches, rallies,
and strikes helped to turn the tide against corporate greed. California is
just the beginning. We need legislation in every state to improve
conditions for America’s [ [link removed] ]3.7 million fast food workers.

nationwide.

The hardworking people employed in the fast food industry deserve safer
working conditions while earning enough to support themselves and their
families. It’s time for us to give workers in every state a say in how
