September Prayer Letter

Hello Friends!

Recently my wife and I went to our son’s JV football game at Helias Catholic School in Jefferson City. A Catholic school has a different culture than public schools in some ways: A prayer before the game over the loudspeaker, a conversation overheard between two parents about something the pope had just done and some feedback over one of the religion classes. Not to mention the difference between Jeff City and Columbia cultures … but raising a teenager in 2022 felt largely the same.

It feels similar to some of my early visits to pastors, churches and towns across Missouri. Each with its own set of issues, challenges and opportunities. Each with its own context, values and pace of life. And yet, all trying to find their footing as we come out of COVID and try to reconnect with the community. Each of us with our stories, our own past, and hopes and dreams for the future.

The Center for Congregational Excellence’s goal is to help each of you live into your God-given potential in your area of the Kingdom. To bloom where you are planted. This monthly letter is not only a reminder that we want to be a resource to you, but to remind you that we are in prayer for you as well. Together, God’s preferred future is out there to be discovered! Let us know how we can help.

The best is yet to come!

Almighty God, we pray today for each person who desires to grow your Kingdom. We know that you meet us where we are, and we ask that you remind us that you see our future as well. Be present with us when we are distracted, frustrated, hurt, suffering or experiencing setbacks. Celebrate with us when your blessings and joy overflow in our church. And grant us your peace as we mind the gap between both ends of that spectrum. In your Son’s name we pray through the power of the Spirit – Amen.
