What to watch for, and do, as we wait for the next hearings

People For the American Way

The January 6 Select Committee is likely to announce their next set of public hearings soon ... but in the meantime, there's one big step you can take to help hold the January 6 insurrectionists accountable: passing a local resolution in support of accountability, democracy and our freedom to vote.

Please join our organizing call today at 4 PM EDT / 1 PM PDT to learn more. >>

Thanks for all your activism, and we hope to talk to you on the call later today!!

While we wait for details on the next round of hearings to be held by the January 6 Select Committee, we know you’re eager to see insurrectionists held accountable. We are too, and wanted to let you know about a way to get involved this week.

This Thursday, we’re gathering with a coalition of other progressive organizations and activists to help local groups and individuals bring the fight for accountability to your local governments. We’re asking everyone to push their local elected officials to pass resolutions showing support for robust accountability for the perpetrators and co-conspirators responsible for the violence that occurred on January 6, 2021.

  • Who: People For the American Way, Public Citizen, and other allied groups

  • What: Organizing call to support local resolutions calling for democracy and accountability

  • Where: Via Zoom – link provided on RSVP

  • When: Thursday September 8, 4:30 – 5:30 EDT (1:30 – 2:30 PDT)

This is your opportunity to play a hands-on role in upholding our democracy and the rule of law. We’ve seen just how dangerous Trump-influenced MAGA politicians can be at every level of government; they continue to work to sabotage future elections by changing state laws, threatening state officials and packing election administration offices so that they can have the final say over election results – even when they lose. Staying engaged in your local politics and elections is vital at this critical moment.

Can we count on you to join us on this call? Register and let us know right now >>

Thank you for your time, and we hope to hear from you!

P.S. We’ll continue building this movement and holding these calls on a weekly basis through the fall, so for a full list of future opportunities to register to attend, please visit our website.

Radical Right extremists are trying to turn back the clock on a century of advances in civil rights, women’s rights, workers’ rights, the social safety net and more… they’re waging an all-out assault on the fundamental pillars of our country – democracy, checks and balances, a fair and independent judicial branch, and core values like fairness, equality, and justice for all.

People For is fighting back every day with:

✔ Grassroots organizing
✔ Lobbying and advocacy
✔ Research and education
✔ Voter mobilization
✔ And more…

But we can’t do this vital work without the robust grassroots financial support of our members and activists.

Please help fund the fight for progress and stand against right-wing extremism with an urgently needed donation to People For today>>
