Dear John,
My name is Lena Rodriguez, I’m an 18 year-old community college student from Las Vegas (that’s me holding the sign), and I have the absolute privilege of being on the Power Shift 2021 Convergence’s Branding & Comms Planning Team.
With your support, we have the opportunity to develop our systems and members to build a powerful convergence of thousands of people like me who are committed to getting better at fighting the corporate and political powers putting our health and future in jeopardy. Our power as the youth climate movement is in our ability to grow; not just in growing the number of people, but in how we ideate a future that is committed to climate justice and social equity.
As the Founder & Executive Director of Spark Of Life Co.: Global Activist Collective, a member organization of Power Shift Network, I am committed to building skills to actualize our vision for a livable future.
The truth is I am still learning about the world and activist movements at the same time. The skills that I and other activists need to build are being centered in the Power Shift 2021 planning process and we need your contribution to actualize these skills.
We need to know how to build powerful campaigns.
We need to learn how to work together across difference to build power
We need to learn how to turn our truths in to powerful stories.
We need to learn social movement history, how people have made wins in the past, and how to remix those lessons today.
The Power Shift 2021 planning process has already helped me grow my understanding on how to better connect and communicate with people. In the Branding and Comms Planning Team, I’ve already learned about logo development, branding, and storytelling. These are valuable tools needed to bring folks deeper into our movements, and will help us build power.
Your donation to Power Shift Network gives me and others like me the opportunity to continue growing as an activist, to build power and affect change. Help us make Power Shift 2021 a success by making a contribution today.
Thank you,
Lena
