[1]National Nurses United
It’s Jean Ross again,
President of National Nurses United. Last week, I testified on Medicare
for All in Congress thanks to your advocacy. And it’s crucial that we
continue that work in the coming months. But that’s not all.
As many of you know, NNU endorsed Bernie Sanders’ campaign for president a
month ago. For decades, he’s been a champion of nurses, patients, and the
people. And we know that he’ll continue that fight from the Oval Office if
elected.
But electing Bernie and building the grassroots movement required to
defeat Trump’s disastrous administration won’t be easy. It’s going to take
all of us coming together and putting in the work to make it happen.
That’s why we’re gearing up to start our Nurses for Bernie organizing
program. We need everyone to join us in this effort. So that’s why I’m
asking you:

today. You don’t need to be a nurse to join. Even if you just want to
learn a little more about the work we’ll be doing, please add your name to
this form.

We need a president who’s ready and able to fight for Medicare for All.
But we also need a president who will lead on workers’ rights, strengthen
unions, and expand protections for nurses and patients. We need a
president who will fight for economic, racial, social, and environmental
justice for all. Bernie can — and will — be that president. And while we
work to get him into the White House, we must also continue working to win
Medicare for All in Congress.
The truth is, Bernie and our movement pose an existential threat to just
about every well-funded and heavily-entrenched special interest group in
the country. Big Pharma, Wall Street, the health insurance industry, you
name it — they’ll all be pooling their near-limitless resources to stop
us.
That’s why it’s so crucial that we’re able to hit the ground running in
January. We have a lot of ground to cover and a lot of work to do.
[ [link removed] ]If you’re interested in getting involved in our Nurses for Bernie work,
sign up here! You don’t need to be a nurse to join. We’ll be finalizing
our plans in the coming weeks, and joining this team is the best way to
get updates as soon as they’re ready.
We’re so proud that together, in 2016, Bernie and NNU elevated Medicare
for All to the national mainstream. Now it’s time for us to continue that
work and make sure it wins in 2020 — both in the halls of Congress and in
the Oval Office.
In solidarity,
Jean Ross
President
National Nurses United
