First New Perspectives film launched - City Girl in Nature in South Downs National Park
A stunning short film documenting the moment a group of young people who live in cities experience their first ever visit to a National Park marks the launch of the first National Parks: New Perspectives stories.
Filmed earlier this summer, the City Girl In Nature 'Moments in Nature’ film follows the journeys of bursary holder Kwesia, Palmiro and Toheeb from London and Mera from Birmingham, as they connect with South Downs National Park.
Kwesia, who lives in Lewisham, said: “I only learnt what a National Park was last year. Since then, I’ve been to four National Parks so far and plan to get round to them all. For me, a National Park is a glimpse of the wider world and the wonders of Mother Nature. My ambition is to enable others like me to be able to experience going to National Parks.”
This film is the first of 10 stories we’ll be sharing this autumn as the result of the first ever National Parks; New Perspectives bursaries – funded by you. Further donations have helped us raise £3,000 for three more bursaries enabling us to cover all National Parks in England & Wales – so a big thank you!
The film was created with support from our corporate partners Ocean City Media and logistical help from South Downs National Park Authority. Brighton & Hove Buses helped with transportation.
Under the City Girl in Nature moniker, 24-year-old Kwesia is determined to get more people connecting with nature and National Parks, and has just launched a new City Girl in Nature crowdfunder. If you enjoyed Kwesia’s film and can afford to do so, please pop some £s in the pot to help her continue on her journey.
