We just won a special election in New York, and we’re beating back Republicans on the airwaves with a $120 million spend in three tossup districts, CA-22, OH-1, and NM-2.
But even with everything turning in our favor, we STILL have an uphill battle. Why?
1. The president’s party almost always loses seats in the midterm. Right now, Republicans only need to flip FIVE SEATS to take control of the House Majority.
2. More than 30 Democrats are retiring this year , meaning we have DOZENS of open seats to defend, and it’s harder to defend an open seat than to re-elect an incumbent.
3. Republicans are sitting on a MOUNTAIN of cash— NEARLY $350 million—enough to FLOOD the airwaves with attack ads, while we’ve missed FIVE fundraising goals this year.
The truth is, Democrats are STILL underdogs. But that’s where we thrive, John. We’re used to being underdogs and beating the odds, and we’re going to do it this year.
If we all work together, Democrats can keep this momentum going and hold the House Majority in November. Pitch in NOW—and we’ll match it 7X.
