We are looking for a customer focused, detail oriented and collaborative individual to join our Operations Department as the Operations Deputy Director. This position is full time and will oversee continual process and operations improvements, collaborating with division leaders and leveraging data to address service delivery accountability. The Operations Deputy Director will also be responsible for overseeing the Operations Scheduling and Training functions.

As the Operations Deputy Director", "*you will*:


* Supervise staff including prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensure that employees follow policies and procedures; make hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions and recommendations.
* Provide strategic leadership and vision to the Operations department, ensuring all services are performing to meet department and agency standards for fixed route, ADA paratransit, vanpool, innovative transit, customer service and related activities.
* Be responsible for the design and development of programs and structures to address the accountability of the Operations department.
* Participates in the labor relations including contract negotiations, administration of collective bargaining agreements, grievance investigations, and arbitration proceedings.
* Oversees professional contracts with outside contractors; monitors contractor performance; recommends changes as needed. Monitor administration of agreement/contract terms and conditions, budget performance and implement corrective actions when needed.
* Works with law enforcement and contracted security personnel to provide security to operators and customers.
* Maintain accountability and compliance with all applicable and state and federal laws, agency policies and procedures, and rules and regulations.
* Maintain awareness of latest industry trends and developments. Attends and participates in professional group meetings.
* Meets regular time and attendance standards.

Are you the one we are *looking for?*


* Bachelor?s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Transportation, or a closely related field.
* Seven (7) years of progressively responsible supervisory/management level experience in a transit agency; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
* Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license and a Class B Commercial Driver?s License (CDL) with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsement.
* You must be willing to submit to a criminal background investigation, the results of which must meet the agency?s hiring criteria.
* Must have an acceptable 5-year driving history that meets the agency's hiring criteria and maintain acceptable driving record during employment.
* Knowledge of management principles and practices; labor contracts; transportation/operations practices; applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations; conflict resolution techniques; basic mathematics.
* Skilled in monitoring and evaluating subordinate staff; writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public; negotiating and resolving conflicts.
