Hi John,
We all saw the huge win for democrats last week in Alaska: Sarah Palin lost to Democrat Mary Peltola. What a win! So what does this mean for the midterms?
First off, it shows that when democrats run strong candidates who campaign on local issues we can win anywhere. It also shows that within the Republican Party, there is still hope for fighting back against MAGA extremism. Thousands of republicans refused to vote for Trump-endorsed Sarah Palin, and that ended up being her downfall.
Now I don’t want to overstate what this result means for November. Alaska is a unique state with its own dynamics, as well as ranked choice voting. However, this Palin result plus the big win by our friend Pat Ryan in upstate New York does start creating a pattern. Democrats are winning when we talk about the issues voters care about!
Voters don’t want extremism or insurrections. They want lower prices, access to healthcare (yes this includes abortion), and a path for their kids to be successful (education, good jobs, a sustainable climate).
What does all this mean for my toss-up seat? We need to stick to our gameplan. 1. Make sure voters know how dangerous a MAGA-controlled Congress would be 2. Make sure voters understand how Democrats' policies help their day to day lives.
Ballots will be mailed out in less than a month here in California. I need your help to make sure voters hear our message on the airwaves, on their phones, and in the mail. We cannot let Tom Patti, our version of Sarah Palin, win this seat.
Now more than ever, I need your support. This is the most competitive race you can give to right now and we’re the key to keeping Congress out of the hands of the MAGA-verse.
So If you want to help us defeat the Valley’s version of Sarah Palin, will you please rush in a generous donation no matter how big you can make it?
