Putin Says He Will Meet With Xi

As his forces struggle in Ukraine and his economy strains under sanctions, Vladimir Putin struck a defiant tone on Wednesday, arguing that the West had failed in its “economic, financial and technological aggression” against Russia and that his country had only gained from the global furor over his invasion. He also said that he would meet next week with Xi Jinping, as the NYT reports.

Putin Threatens Wester Gas and Grain Supplies

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday called Western sanctions “stupid” and threatened to halt all energy sales to Russia’s critics if they move forward with a cap on oil prices proposed by the Group of Seven industrialized economic powers, as the Washington Post reports.

EU Plans $5 Billion Loan

The European Union is set to provide a further $5 billion in emergency funding for Ukraine, but the bloc is still falling short of the assistance it pledged to provide to Kyiv in May, as the WSJ reports.

In case you were wondering why Taylor Hawkins was such a big deal, there is plenty of evidence to showcase his immense talent. The Foo Fighters aren’t just any rock band, they are one of the biggest acts in the world. Hawkins was a huge part of that success. Rarely, do you ever see drummers spotlighted in the way that he was. Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham, The Who’s Keith Moon and The Police’s Stewart Copeland come to mind when I think about superstar drummers. The Stones’ Charlie Watts, The Band’s Levon Helm, Cream’s Ginger Baker, Rush’s Neil Peart and the Foo's own Dave Grohl when he played drums with Nirvana are also on my short list. Here’s why Hawkins belongs in the conversation
