Monday, Sept 19
8:00 AM – Prosperity Hub: Connect, Act, Impact, Discover. Grab a coffee and stop by the Prosperity Hub, your one-stop location to meet the Prosperity Now team and fellow Summit guests to connect, take action, discover our Scorecard, and make an impact towards our shared work to transform our economy to work for everyone.
9:00 AM – Prosperity University: Networks for Movement Building 101. Deep dive into breakfast and Prosperity Now’s Networks. Meet fellow Network members and Summit attendees, provide input on future Network activities and goals, and get ready to make the most of your Prosperity Summit experience. Choose one of four Networks for Movement Building “classes”, including: the Affordable Housing Network, Campaign for Every Kid’s Future, Financial Security Network, or the Taxpayer Opportunity Network.
10:00 AM – Opening Plenary: Economic Justice Rooted in History. Prosperity Summit 2022 kicks off with an opening session that will explore racial and ethnic economic justice rooted in history as we build the drumbeat forward. Panelists include Kevin Killer, Manuel Pastor, our very own Gary Cunningham, and COMMON! Will be sign language interpreted and live streamed on the mobile app.
11:30 AM – Lunch in the Exhibit Hall. Enjoy a hot lunch as you catch up with friends, build new relationships, and connect with our exhibitors.

3:15 PM – Main Stage Plenary: The Call to Community Centered Design. This featured main stage conversation will spotlight the Shared Prosperity Catalyst collaboration, highlighting the critical importance of centering the voices and lived experiences of communities in the design of product, program and policy solutions for economic equity and justice. We will hear from a range of voices including two entrepreneurs: Kortney Ziegler and LaToria Pierce, Eva Matos (Ideas42), and Mark Madrid (SBA), in a panel discussion moderated by Otis Rolley (Wells Fargo).
4:30 PM – Symposiums
The Path to Repair and Redress: Global Learning and Racial Justice Now. Canopy Collective presents a nuanced discussion about the movement for reparations for Black Americans in the age of our global reckoning with race. Moderated by reparations luminary Nkechi Taifa, our panelists will lead the audience members on a journey to learn the history of the movement, the positive public health implications of a successful reparations effort, what there is to be learned from global reparations efforts, the positive impacts on the racial wealth gap, and how reparations and transitional justice benefits everyone in our society.
The Equity Movement and Native Communities: Honoring and Observance. This session will include a discussion on the economic and historic implications of dispossessing Native Americans of their land and resources combined with recognition of the substantive work Native leaders are accomplishing in the asset building movement. Facilitated by former North Dakota Commissioner of Agriculture, Sarah Vogel, USDA General Counsel, Janie Hipp, and Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma Chief Executive Officer, Sarah EchoHawk, the Native panel discussion will delve into and honor the ongoing work and dedication carried out by trailblazing Native leaders of today. Far from waiting, these Native leaders are creating and implementing innovative economic empowerment solutions on behalf of Indigenous people.
7 – 11 PM – Tour of the National Center for Civil & Human Rights. Make sure to keep your timed ticket handy, as we head out for a museum outing to cap off an inspiring first day.

Federal Agency Forum on Consumer Solutions. This featured symposium will center on the critical role government plays in ensuring the equitable administration of government benefits and protections and how federal agencies can advance racial equity while carrying out their respective agency missions. During this symposium, attendees will hear from Kenneth Corbin, Commissioner, Wage and Investment Division and Chief Taxpayer Experience Officer at Internal Revenue Service; Desmond Brown, Assistant Director, Office of Consumer Education, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and DeAndra J. Cullen, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Office of Policy, Legislative Initiatives & Outreach, HUD who will share information about agency initiatives, interagency collaborations, and partnership opportunities to increase access to and take-up of federal benefits.
