FiveThirtyEight just announced that 1 in 2 Americans will have an election
denier on the ballot in November.
"An election denier winning election and taking office is more than a
symbolic concern," according to FiveThirtyEight. "An election-denying
Secretary of State could refuse to certify an election that he or she
believes was rigged."
This echoes Liz Cheney’s concession speech warning last month: "We have
candidates for Secretary of State who may refuse to report the actual
results of the popular vote in future elections."
Thousands of PCCC members across the country have been donating to
Democratic, pro-democracy Secretary of State campaigns in battleground
states for over a year to protect the offices that will oversee the 2024
election.

Colorado, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, and Nevada? These officials could
be our last line of defense against efforts to overthrow our democracy.
Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold laid out the stakes in a recent
interview: "The country could lose the right to vote in less than three
months."
The Washington Post reports, "More than any other category of elected
official, Secretaries of State could be instrumental in overturning the
popular vote in their state -- an unprecedented move in American history."
HuffPost adds, "A victory for any one of [the election deniers] could
cause chaos in 2024 if they choose to contest the results or delay or deny
their certification."
Secretary of State races don't always get tons of national scrutiny. But
in 2022, Democrats cannot afford to ignore the elections that will
determine who conducts and oversees the 2024 election.

Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, and Nevada who stand
between democracy and authoritarian takeover -- and help support our work
to elect honest vote counters.
