Hi there,
We need your help ASAP. There is a critical vote happening TOMORROW on major new fossil fuel infrastructure that’s going to pollute our communities and contribute to the climate crisis.
Here’s what’s happening – New Fortress Energy wants to build a plant to liquefy fracked gas in Wyalusing, PA so they can ship it through our towns and communities to Gibbstown, NJ, where it will be exported overseas.
The Delaware River Basin Commission has authority to extend or reject New Fortress Energy’s permit to construct the Gibbstown Terminal. Governor Wolf is a member of this commission, which means that Pennsylvanians have a voice in this decision.
There are only a few hours to act. Urge Governor Wolf immediately to protect your community and your drinking water by saying NO to the Gibbstown Liquid Natural Gas Terminal.
If this plan is approved, 1,650 trucks and two 100-car trains would start to carry highly explosive fuel through our densely populated communities in PA and NJ every single day. We can’t emphasize enough how dangerous this is. Some of the potential train and trucking routes go directly through communities already overburdened with pollution and environmental injustices – Allentown, Chester, and Philadelphia. Plus, the Gibbstown port would sit right on the Delaware River, which provides drinking water for 13 million people across the region!
No communities deserve bomb trains and trucks running through them daily! This project is going to create pollution and put our communities in danger while huge corporations reap the projects.
But there is still time to speak out and try to stop it. The Commission has taken bold action before against fracking, so if enough of us get loud, we could persuade them to oppose this huge hazard again.
Please send a letter to your governor before they vote on this Gibbstown LNG permit extension TOMORROW morning!
