GLSEN helps LGBTQ youth to live confidently!

John,

My name is Jessica Chiriboga. I’m a mixed-race lesbian from Glendora, CA getting ready to graduate high school, and a member of GLSEN’s National Student Council.

The summer before my freshman year, I hated myself. I’d cry myself to sleep, thinking that my life—within my family, my church, and my community—was over because I am gay. But my school has a strong GSA and, through them, I was able to connect with GLSEN and access resources that made me feel less alone.

John, will you help GLSEN support more GSAs in more schools—so they can be there when students like me need them most?

Giving LGBTQ youth the power to help and transform their communities is what makes GLSEN’s work so special. Your donation will help millions of LGBTQ students live confidently as their authentic selves, support their peers, and advocate for their community.

I never could have imagined the opportunities GLSEN has given me to create tangible change. This is what makes GLSEN’s work so special—and I’ve taken what GLSEN has taught me about advocacy to the next level.

This past September, I wrote an OpEd on Supreme Court oral arguments around LGBTQ employment discrimination, which was featured in The Advocate; and in October, I attended CNN’s LGBTQ Town Hall for the Democratic Presidential Candidates. It’s my dream to be the first out Supreme Court Justice, and because of GLSEN, that dream feels more real than ever.

Every student should have the freedom to pursue their dreams while being true to themselves. John, I hope you’ll make that possible by supporting GLSEN with a special gift today.

With sincere thanks,

Jessica Chiriboga
