Folks ages 14-22 should apply by midnight to meet the priority deadline

Apply by December 18th for priority consideration

Hey,

There's still a chance to apply to this training (all costs covered!) for young people (ages 14 to 22). We believe young people will lead the movement to improve youth access to abortion care, and that's exactly what this class of 15 storytellers will help do.

If you or someone you know had an abortion and wants to be a part of this movement to break down barriers to youth access, apply here by TONIGHT to learn storytelling, media expertise, organizing and activism skills.

SUBJECT: Training new abortion storytellers

Hey John,

We’ve seen the impact of people sharing their abortion stories - yes to change hearts and minds, but also to break stigma, and give someone else who’s had an abortion the green light to say it out loud. That’s why our Abortion Out Loud campaign is looking for abortion storytellers we haven't worked with yet! We’re looking for 15 young people ages 14 to 22 who want to share their abortion story and organize in their communities around young people’s access to abortion.

Can you forward this email to someone you know who’d be interested? Or perhaps you fit the criteria yourself! We’re specifically looking for folks who experienced barriers to abortion care because of how young they were, particularly those whose experiences were impacted by parental involvement restrictions.

Those selected will:

  • Be sent to Washington, D.C. on January 24th-27th for an in-person retreat to learn storytelling techniques, how to engage with the media, organizing and activism skills, lobbying, and more
  • Build community and power with other young leaders who have had abortions at the retreat
  • After the retreat, participants will work with Advocates for Youth staff throughout the year in storytelling and advocacy efforts to increase abortion access for young people at the state and local level. Each participant will engage in at least three storytelling opportunities and plan a campaign to increase abortion access in their communities.

All costs associated with participating in the retreat will be covered, and participants will be compensated for their work in the program.

Our storytellers have described this work as empowering and life-changing, and we’re thrilled to offer this opportunity to a new group. Please help us give more young people this opportunity by spreading the word on social media, forwarding this email, or texting this application link to folks who could be interested or know people interested.

Thanks so much,
