Hi JOHN,
For the second time this month we saw extreme flooding on our state’s roads and highways, leading to stranded drivers, crumbling streets, and collapsed buildings. As we experience more frequent extreme weather events due to climate change, we must create more resilient communities.
We hardly think about our infrastructure when it serves us, but when it doesn’t, we realize how critical it is to our daily activities. I worked for Congressman Langevin during Superstorm Sandy in 2012 and recall when the wastewater treatment plant failed in Warwick. Residents were left without running water or the ability to flush toilets for days.
In Congress, my priorities are:
Strengthening our critical infrastructure to withstand climate change and keep our most vulnerable communities safe.
Creating a robust system of public transportation to lessen on our dependence on gas guzzling cars and trucks.
Ensuring our communities can access clean drinking water by investing in our water infrastructure systems and keeping our bodies of water such as Narragansett Bay and the Scituate Reservoir free from pollutants.
Investing in high-speed internet so that all Rhode Islanders can access it for work and school. We also need to invest in protection against cyber attacks.
Please consider donating to my campaign [[link removed]] so we can bring this agenda to Washington, D.C.
Thank you,
Joy
