We can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said. This level of gun violence we’re seeing is astonishing, devastating, and unacceptable.

This Labor Day weekend, during a time for family, rest, and celebration, there were over 20 shootings in our city. At least 33 people were shot and ten people were killed. Many more were injured.

To put it into perspective, these are the number of murder victims on this date over the last two years.

Philly Murder Victims by Labor Day:
2020 → 309
2021 → 361
2022 → 368

These aren’t just numbers. These are human lives. Our neighbors, family members, and friends. People shouldn’t have to live in fear.

Dwight has introduced an all-hands response to the gun violence crisis in Philly and America. His seven-part plan uses every tool available at the federal, state, and local government levels to help save lives, including getting illegal guns off our streets.

The gun violence epidemic CAN be solved. Dwight wants to know your thoughts about this important issue: Should federal, state, and local governments work together to address gun violence?

Let the devastation of this Labor Day weekend push our leaders to act and make the changes our city desperately needs.

Thank you,

Team Evans
