John, Please join me in wishing a very happy birthday to one of the most extraordinary women I’ve ever known, my grandmother Lucile. This incredible lady is turning 105 today!

I often think about the incredible changes my grandmother has witnessed over the span of her lifetime.

Back in 1917, women did not have the right to divorce, the right to take out a loan or even have a bank account in their own name. And they certainly did not have the right to seek an abortion.

Lucile was born into a country where women did not have the right to vote. But this last May she proudly cast her vote for me in the Democratic primary to make me the only openly gay Senate candidate on the ballot this November.

In fact, when my grandmother was born, a gay man like me wasn’t free to live openly or become a father to two amazing adopted boys. And we only won the right to marriage equality seven years ago.

A lot has changed in the last 105 years, but now as she celebrates another birthday, my grandmother is watching all of our rights get stripped away.

It’s been less than three months since the Supreme Court struck down Roe v Wade and erased the constitutionally protected right to seek an abortion, and these radical Republicans are not done. SCOTUS now has their sights set on restricting voting rights, revoking access to contraception, overturning marriage equality, and so much more.

But here’s the good news: We can stop them if we flip this Senate seat in Idaho.

The only thing less popular than my GOP opponent are the policies he upholds. Recent polling shows that even an overwhelming majority of conservative voters oppose these extreme abortion bans coming from states like mine. But Republicans in D.C. have promised to pursue a federal ban on abortion if they win back the majority.

That’s why we have to fight for every single Senate seat we can – and John, we CAN win here in Idaho.

I’m running to flip this U.S. Senate seat because I don’t want my grandmother to watch all the rights her generation fought for get washed out by a radical Republican agenda.

My grandma taught me so much in life, not the least of which is to leave the world better than you found it. The progress her generation helped fight for is under attack, and I won’t stand for it.

When I serve in the U.S. Senate, you can count on me to protect and expand Medicare and Social Security, to secure our civil liberties, and fight for ALL American families. That’s why I don’t take money from corporate PACs, and I’m counting on grassroots power to take us to victory.

Help me celebrate 105 years of Lucile’s extraordinary life by joining me in the fight to save our democracy.

For my grandma and yours,

- David

David Roth is a single, gay dad running to flip a U.S. Senate seat in Idaho. His opponent is an extremist “pro-life” Republican who’s been in politics for 37 years. David stepped up to serve the state that has been his home most of his life, where he is now raising his two young sons, because every state is worth fighting for. There has never been an openly gay man elected to the U.S. Senate. Help us make history this year. Pitch in now to flip this seat and send David to D.C.
