Houston has been the target of the CCP’s malign actions for years, and in July 2020, the Chinese Consulate in Houston was closed due to its role in massive illegal spying and influence operations throughout the United States against U.S. government officials and American citizens. Rep. Banks chairs the Republican Study Committee, which introduced the Countering Communist China Act, comprehensive legislation to tackle the China threat and crack down on Communist Party espionage.
