John, Republicans love to stoke fear and claim they’re the party that’s tough on crime. But when it comes to the Central Valley and High Desert, homicides are up -- right here in McCarthy’s own backyard.

Despite the fact that Kern County has one of the most aggressive sheriff departments in the state and “tough on crime” Republican representatives, the murder rate in Bakersfield is DOUBLE that of New York or San Francisco.
 
John, Central Valley families deserve to feel safe in their own communities. Our current leadership is failing us, and people are literally dying because of it. I’m running against Kevin McCarthy to help make our communities safer. Will you chip in $5 or more today to help me defeat him?

While McCarthy is traveling the country blaming Democrats for “ignoring America’s crime crisis,” he has refused to take action to impact escalating crime rates and to protect the district he was elected to represent! If anything, crime is rising -- where is McCarthy?
 
The Central Valley and High Desert depend on our sheriff’s department, district attorney, and mayor to keep our communities safe. All three of those positions are currently held by Republicans. Their hypocrisy is shameful, and the people they were sworn to protect are suffering because of it. 

We need to address local crime and work with community members to find real solutions. Shouting from podiums and pointing fingers at the opposing party is NOT working.
