September is Hunger Action Month
Over 450,000 of our neighbors in Maricopa County suffer from food insecurity, which means they may not know where their next meal is coming from. In fact, 1 in 5 children and 1 in 7 seniors do not have enough to eat.
This September we’re focusing on Hunger Action month and invite you join us in supporting families in our community:
-
Take the Pledge – To end hunger in our community. Sign up with Feeding America to take the pledge to help address food insecurity
-
Learn more about Valley of the Sun United Way’s mighty goals to address Health and Food Access in Maricopa County.
-
Support food banks in your community by donating needed items or volunteer your time. Much needed staples include canned beans, vegetables and fruits, canned meats and peanut butter.
-
Host a food drive to support United Way’s Pantry Packs by collecting these items: granola bars, fruit pouches, and individual snack sized crackers.
