House Republicans Support Lobster Industry
"Urge legislative Democrats to join in denouncing Seafood Watch"
*House Republican Statement:*
The Seafood Watch statement that consumers should ?avoid? eating lobster is just another assault on science and the ability of hard working Mainers to put food on the plates of American families. No Maine gear has resulted in the death of right whales, but this effort to destroy the livelihoods of fishing families and those who depend on the lobster fishing industry is reprehensible. It will ultimately raise prices on American consumers. Maine House Republicans will continue to support the working men and women that put food on our plates while rising?prices threaten to put them out of business and make things harder for families.
It is time for Maine to push back against harmful policy goals of fringe political groups not only in places like California but in Augusta as well. We urge legislative Democrats to join us in denouncing the Seafood Watch designation.
